Weekly articles from Capt. (Dr) Perbi

Hope Alive is an annual classical /choral music concert held under the patronage of Prof. Emeritus J.H. Nketia, to highlight outstanding Youth and provide Young People with an alternative to popular music and inspire hope. This is held on 1st of May every year to mark the HuD Group's Anniversary and was in 2008 done to launch The HuD Fund

Initially, it was intended to be a purely entertainment based programme. However, the leadership of The HuD Group realized that, certain forms of music were gradually becoming ‘unpopular' amongst the youth. We therefore approached Prof. Emeritus J.H. Nketia to share our concerns with him. This initial interaction, gave birth to the maiden programme which was held in January 2004 at the Great Hall University of Ghana Legon. This event featured the Julius & Augustus Richardson (The Richardson Twins), Miho Hagi Wara from Japan and Mawulom& Mawuyrame Akoto. Two hundred and eighty (280) people attended the concert including members of the diplomatic corps as well as students from Presbytarian Boys School (Presec Legon)

    Purpose of Hope Alive

Hope Alive as the name suggests, seeks to establish the fact that there is a lot of potential in young people, which can be groomed to the benefit of society. Specifically, it seeks:

    1. To use classical and choral music as a medium to project a positive image of the youth.
    2. To unearth and showcase young talent.
    3. To use the medium of inspiring music to create hope as a result of Christ's death and as a catalyst for social transformation.
    4. To market The HuD group to the older generation.
    5. To raise funds to support the activities of the HuD group.
