the HuD history
It was the First of May, 2003; May Day! Whilst many young people between the ages of 24 and 27 were either at the beach, drinking spot, chatting away with friends, planning the next fun trip, preparing for examinations etc (not to say these are bad in itself), nine same aged youth sat in the vestry of Legon Interdenominational Church for many hours and later in the porches of their parents
homes brainstorming and planning around a God-given vision about young people: the vision to Inspire and Empower Young people to discover and fulfill their God-given purpose and reach their full potential.

This vision was particularly heavy for the vision bearer, founder and first CEO of The Group, Dr Yaw Perbi, who could not sit still and enjoy the holiday until he had obeyed His master's urgent call.

The first name of the Group was WannaBe Inc. Worldwide, with the aim of helping Young People become all they wanna be (want to be). The name was later changed to The HuD Group and "WannaBe" retained as a youth brand for marketing The HuD Group to a younger audience.

Four months later, The Human Development Group (HuD Group) was registered as a Christian, not-for-profit human development organization under the companies code of the republic of Ghana as a company limited by guarantee.

It is important to note that "the young nine", now members of the Executive council brought unique talents and skills to the formation and solidifying of the organization's mission, culture and strategy. They were in the persons of

Amma Serwaa Sefa-Dedeh (Ms)
Kofi Duodu Asomaning

Theresa N.A. Ani-Mante (Mrs)
